Writers’ Workshop: Three Hundred Words

by Randy Murray on December 28, 2011

This week I’m conducting an online writers’ workshop. The goal is to help you dramatically improve your writing skills.

Today: three hundred words.

Three hundred words of eleven point type will fit on one eight and a half by eleven piece of paper. They can also be a challenge, especially when you’re working from an assignment.

Today, write an informative, non-fiction piece on the subject of New Year’s celebrations in your home country. Make it a minimum of three hundred words and no more than three hundred and fifty. After you’ve completed your first draft, read and carefully rewrite so that your piece is clear, has good transitions, and presents your ideas completely.

The advanced version of this workshop exercise combines it with Give Me Twenty.
