Vacation Tips In This Over-Connected Age: Leave The Computer In The Bag If You Can’t Leave It At Home

by Randy Murray on July 29, 2010

I do have my laptop with me on this vacation, but I plan on leaving it in the bag. I plan on taking the computer so other family member can check email and Facebook, but I don’t plan on doing any work with it.

Then again, one never knows when I’ll have something I want to capture or to write in depth about, so having my computer handy isn’t a bad thing. And if a client does need something in an emergency, I can respond. As a side note, I’ve let all my current clients know that I’m going on vacation and we’ve worked out our schedules so they won’t need me while I’m away – but one never knows.

My iPad will probably get some use, but primarily for entertainment purposes.

Try and do the same for yourself. Leave the work behind. Focus on relaxing, spending time with those around you, and let the work wait until you return.
