This week I’m going 100% (OK, 98%) video!
Today I’m kicking off with a video on my whole “leave the house” approach. You can blame Patrick Rhone for this, BTW.
Full Systems & Tools Review from Randy Murray on Vimeo.
Please let me know what you think! More (and shorter) videos to come with detail on selected topics, including my three rules for leaving the house.
PS: as promised in a post last week, Hands Free, here’s what I’d do if a nearby person burst into flames.
- Toss my iPhone to anyone nearby and have them call 911 (also keeps the iPhone from melting).
- Remove jacket and attempt to smother flames with it, patting and rolling the victim on the ground.
Easy? Obvious? Certainly. But it’s being ready to act that counts. If you’ve ever been in an emergency situation, look around and see how many people are just standing there. While everything in life won’t be emergencies like this, you never know when a spare hand and a ready mind will mean the difference between disaster and opportunity.

Love the concept of this video…so much so in fact that I will be doing a similarly one this evening as I pack my messenger bag for a quick two day one night trip. I picked up a few tips from you and I hope other mobile workers can do the same from a similar presentation of my tips and trips for packing a business bag. Look for that post Saturday or Sunday over on my blog
Can’t wait to see yours!
(I’m assuming you’ll be following up with a “Temple Of Doom” theme . . .)
Randy,
I really like the video series you’re posting. It gives a context to what you write and shows how you use tools to work best for you.
Although replicating someones setup is rarely a good thing - everybody is different and has different needs - watching demos like yours can spark some ideas.
Thanks for sharing,
Rafal
Thanks!
I enjoyed doing the video series and I’ll do more in the future!
Randy
Hi, great video, thanks. I’m also into taking as little w. me as I can and I’m just wondering which shoulder bag you’re using - the one that flips in & out so nicely, you can even toss an iPad there?
Thanks again!
It’s military surplus - Soviet or Russian - cold war era. I got it as a gift years ago, but here’s one that looks similar.
The iPad is a snug fit in it’s case, but it works great for lightweight travel.
