One thing you quickly learn when your hairline begins to recede is that many people think it’s very funny to point that out to you.
Yes, I get it. I have no hair on my head. Pretty funny, right? Sophisticated humor at its best.
But I’ve never cared that I’m bald, so the jokes or jabs don’t bother me. And when people figure that out, they drop it. In fact, it baffles them. Being bald is something that’s supposed to bother you, right?
But we bald men know things that others don’t; including that bald can be strong, sexy, and commanding. And we also know this: bald men that embrace their baldness are intimidating.
A person or business that is confident against your expectations makes you pause and wonder, “What do they know that I don’t?” It’s like that old saying, “Smile. It will make people wonder what you’re up to.”
The strongest male role models, in sports, movies and TV, even politics are often bald. Take for example the actor Patrick Stewart. How could a thin, short, middle aged, BALD, Shakespearian actor be universally seen as sexy and an action hero? Could it be that he’s extremely competent, wickedly intelligent, and surprisingly funny have anything to do with it? I love Star Trek and I’m a huge Captain Kirk and William Shatner fan, but if I have a Trek role model, it’s Jean-Luc Picard.
We confident bald men know that hair is only a distraction. Alec Baldwin isn’t a terrific actor because of his thick head of hair, he’s great in spite of it (and a few other personality defects as well).
If you are very good at what you do and can be confident about that, then it doesn’t matter what others may say about you. They’ll be nervous and jealous. Why worry about their little jokes and pokes at you?

Randy,
That’s Sir Patrick Stewart now. See how far bald men can get.
I saw Sir Patrick on Broadway a few years back in Arthur Miller’s “Ride Down Mt. Morgan.” He is a force of nature on stage and every bit the embodiment of energy and intelligence. Don’t miss the chance to see him live if you have the chance!
Randy
I would have loved to see his one man show of A Christmas Carol. I’ll put seeing him in a live production on my wish list.
