When Del is done pestering me for attention every morning he takes up his place sitting on the corner of my desk and looks outside.
Today it’s gray and rainy. But from Del’s perch you can see across my backyard, through the neighbors’ properties, and across into the park. Inniswood Metro park is a local treasure. It’s quiet and a great pleasure to walk through the trees and gardens.
But today it’s wet and cold and later it will snow, so Del and I watch through our window. The cat and the freelance writer have simple needs.
I’ve cracked the window and we can feel the cool air and hear a complaining cardinal.
I’ll leave Del to keep watch. I have writing to do.
