A lot of writers obsess about how many words that they’ve written any given day. I’m not above doing it myself. I see Tweets fly about proclaiming, “2,000 words today!”
I can only offer this advice: it doesn’t matter how many words you write. It just matters that you write every day. Write the amount that you need to write and are ready to write.
When you have nothing to write about, write about that. Or do a Writing Assignment. But when you have your own assignment, for work or on your own, just write. Don’t worry about the word count.
How long is that novel/story/essay? Exactly long enough.
