At least I hope we’re back . . .
We had an extended and significant outage today. It was extremely agrivating. It was almost like being on Tumblr.
My host not only dropped out of site, but informed me that the server was completely unrecoverable. They restored from the last backup, which was on December 6. That means that I’ve lost any comments that any of you made during that time, and for that, I apologize.
Equally painful was this fun fact: they lost the five posts queued up for this next week. Three of the posts I had offline in first draft form and I was able to reassemble them fairly completely. Penny confirmed with another editing pass, and I thank her for the extra effort. But I completely lost two posts. I’ll rewrite them. Rewriting is never a bad thing, but this was unnecessary.
From the good news, I have more than a little to say about hosting, ISPs, backups, and composing online. Look for that and more in the near future.
Thank you for your patience. And now, on with the show!

Damn it - so frustrating for you. For what it’s worth, I use this plugin, which automatically backs up my WordPress database and sends me an email with the backup files attached every week. You can set it to daily or even hourly, if you wish. Glad to see things back up and running nicely though!

Thanks - I’m definitely going to give that plugin a try!
