The Waiting Game Trap

by Randy Murray on September 10, 2012

“Let’s wait and see what happens.”

“Something better might come along.”

“The new model will be out soon.”

“I’m sure it will clear up on it’s own.”

“See how you feel in the morning.”

Screw all of that.

Do your research, make a clean, well informed decision based upon as much evidence and as little emotion as you can, and then act. Buy that car, computer, or new home. Or not. Just stop waiting.

Quit your job and take another. Just make up your mind and do it. Don’t take a chance. Decide. There’s a difference. Just stop waiting.

I’m frustrated to the point of tears by what should be a very minor medical issue and being asked to wait, wait more, shuffled from practice to practice, asked to fill out the same paperwork again and again, and then, asked to wait some more. All for a simple inpatient procedure that will literally take just a few minutes and should relieve the maddening pain in my back.

But I shouldn’t become upset. Because, of course, we have the best medical system in the world. And I have pretty good insurance. I pay my bills. It makes me shudder to think what things would be like if I didn’t.

Screw waiting. Let’s do this thing.
