It’s practically impossible.
The least likely way to make a living in the theater is to become a playwright.
I make a very good living as a writer, but as a business writer. As a playwright I’ve had some sponsored travel and expenses covered. It’s more than a hobby, but it certainly isn’t how I make my living.
Still, if you ask me, “What do you do?” I’ll tell you, “I’m a playwright.”
