Some people agonize about the blank page and can’t get started writing for fear of not writing something good. I tell you this: just write. My friend Penny tells me, “You have to get all of the bad writing out before you get to the good stuff.” From what I can tell, it’s true.
You don’t have to fear the blank page. You just have to write. You don’t have to worry about writing anything good. You just have to write.
You just have to write.
But sometimes you need a running head start. Try this: write or type out a fixed paragraph and then keep writing. Don’t copy and paste it, write it out. Then keep writing.
Here’s your sentence:
In the early morning when the black of night begins to turn to gray and the shape of things resolve into the familiar I set myself to the tasks of today.
Then keep writing.
